Exclusive private home in the heart of Kenya

OVERVIEW

Sirai House is a magnificent private home located in the Borana Conservancy at the foot of Mount Kenya, enjoying staggering views in every direction. Built by local craftsmen from indigenous materials, the house reflects the owners’ love of architecture, design, and art, and has been created with privacy and pure comfort in mind.

Available for exclusive use only, Sirai House has six sumptuous suites and affords guests all the facilities associated with a world-class resort, with the cocoon-like ambience and seclusion of a private home – set in a flourishing game conservancy. The private 35,000-acre reserve adjoins Lewa Conservancy and is home to an abundance of game, including the critically endangered rare black and white rhino, elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, serval, hyena, the rare Grevy’s zebra and reticulated giraffe, buffalo, and a host of antelope which wander freely between the two reserves.

Sirai House is served by team of 40 staff, including an accomplished chef who makes a point of understanding and anticipating guests’ preferences, creating mouthwatering meals using ingredients sourced locally or grown in the house shamba (kitchen garden). The ethos underpinning the house is one of conservation, with a focus on supporting the local communities through employment and sustainable tourism.

HORSES

Established in 2012, the stud breeds crossbred horses for sale within Africa and offers Artificial Insemination and Embryo Transfer to clients’ mares.

Having sourced the best crossbred bloodlines available in South Africa in our quest to produce the ‘Sirai Horse’, suited to today’s safari and general purpose riding, further purebred bloodlines were selected from around the world during visits to view stallions that might ‘better’ the pedigrees, temperaments and conformation of our foundation mares.

The chosen breeds, with their unique characteristics, could play a significant role in producing horses with a range of desirable qualities.

The house sleeps 12 guests in six suites spread across four cottages.

ACCOMMODATION

Six private suties. Each cottage stands apart for privacy and seclusion, creating a personal space to retreat yet always in contact with the main house.

Master Suite:

As befitting the principal bedroom suite, this room is unrivalled for space and comfort. Next to the bedroom and sitting area is a large dressing room. Beyond a glass wall of retractable doors, a private terrace and infinity pool leads the eye out across the plains of Kenya that lay below Sirai. The magnificent vista sweeps the life of the African bush into the room as you recline on the bed or laze in the opulent marble tub.

Suite 2

This elegant suite is only a short distance from the terrace of the main house. The warmth of the furs and fabrics are stunningly offset by tranquil tones of stone and sky. The bedroom, sitting area, and sumptuous bathroom are all connected whilst a private terrace leads to an outdoor rain shower with unparalleled views.

Suite 3 & 4

Providing yet another solution to how you use the limitless space of Sirai, these two suites join onto a large shared drawing room. Invite friends and family around for cocktails, snacks, or play cards while the staff bring along drinks or snacks for you. These suites can be a wonderful private retreat to lounge, read, work, or simply sit out on the veranda and drink in the sweeping views of Borana. Each suite is perfectly contained within itself with fires, bathrooms, verandas, and outdoor showers.

Suite 5 & 6

Like Suites 3 & 4, these rooms have the added advantage of a shared drawing room between them and all the versatility and seclusion that brings. Furthest from the main house these suites are a magical hideaway, set amongst the tree-tops with a private wooden walkway down to a secret viewing platform. The bold, Kenyan design of these rooms, with Thanje reed roofing and granite or solid wooden bath tubs, harmonizes beautifully with the exterior majesty of nature.
